Today's car gallery is all about the famous Dodge Challenger. At least the first and 3rd gen - but we'll talk about the 2nd gen as well! It's an icon of a car.
The first Dodge to carry the name "Challenger" actually was a value version of the Coronet, called Coronet Silver Challenger. The famous Challenger we all know came 1970, sharing many parts and body style with the Plymouth Barracuda. From 78 to 83 only the name Challenger stayed and everything else about the car was just NOT a Challenger. But a rebadged Mitsubishi Galant Lambda / Sapporo.
Then 2006 a concept of a new 3rd Gen Challenger, just two years later the street-ready version - being very close to the concept. Lasted until 2023. And that's the end of the Challenger. But it raised from the ashes before. It happened once, it could happen again.
The 70s models had different trims, specs and engines. Of course the iconic 426 HEMI and the triple-carb 440 Six Pack were the top-tier monsters, the 383-cubic-inch V-8 engines—specifically the 383 Magnum—served as the standard-bearer for the R/T performance trim.
The 383 came in 2- and 4-barrel versions. The Sixpacks available with 340 or 440 cu in. The Hemi had a 426 cu in. The top model rated officially at 420hp. But the output was measured more between 470 - 500hp. Stock!

2nd Gen came with either a 1.6 Liter engine with 77hp or 2.6 Liter with 105hp. Just the name remained. A lost cause. It's ok to introduce new models, smaller engines, more fuel-efficient engines. But don't give it the name Challenger. Just don't.

The 3rd gen was the longest-running Gen with most model/specs varieties. V6s came with 3.5 later 3.6 Liter engines. RT and SRT models with 5.7, 6.1 and 6.4 (392 cu in) Liter Hemis.
Then the 6.2L Hellcat models with up to 807hp! The SRT Demon with 840hp and the SRT Demon 170 with 1025hp!!!

Many special editions, limited editions and so on. Too many to list. So I just chose some. Below a list of all years. I just mostly chose one model per year. With all variants it would have been a list over 100 cars. Some customs and a concept in here as well. And the most expensive version of them all: The 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T Convertible that went for a staggering 1.8 Million Dollars.

If you either love these cars or movies - or even both - then you need to watch the ultimate classic where the character Kowalski is driving a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Magnum. The 1971 cult classic "Vanishing Point". There was a remake. Different plot (gave him an actual purpose) and a different ending. Forgettable. But the original is in my eyes a car-chase masterpiece and a nice piece of 70s movie history. And now, enjoy!
