I go to the gym every morning, M-F. I spend an hour on the treadmill, strengthening my legs and my cardiovascular system. And often, during that time, I think about whatever writing project I've got on the front or back burner. And often this helps me work out plot points, or story arcs, or whatever other mess I've gotten myself into that makes me stare at my laptop in despair and confusion.
And this morning, the knot I'd tied for myself on this particular piece I'm in the middle of was resolved in a burst of clarity that immediately informed me that it was The Right Way To Proceed™. All that remains is for me to write it down. As if that's actually an easy task....
But it reinforces my mantra as a creator: A writer isn't always writing when he's writing.
