I wrote another 600+ word scene today for this latest story. And I'm getting close to the climax/resolution. And then the wait of a couple of days for a complete re-read and some big-time editing. That's mostly going to tighten and clean up the beginning. Cuts, additions, clarifications, foreshadowing; it's all part of the writing process.
Overall, I'm pleased with this. I pretty much stuck to my outline, and having that structure in place helped a lot, even when I was slowing down. The focus was still there when I did get back to it.
And there's another project I want to get myself into; it's a longer one, so I'm going to have to do a lot of research and prep and especially outlining. But it's taking shape in my head; I think about it a lot, and get ideas that I file away. That's kind of my writing process at the beginning; I get an idea, and if it's worth pursuing, it stays with me and I find myself working things out and getting ideas that stick in my Brain Filter™ and won't go away.
