Time flies....doesn't it. But I remember the day as it was yesterday. I was just serving some time in the army in my country. Everything stopped that day. We were put on full alert, since nobody knew if this is something bigger, something worldwide. We watched almost the whole day the live pics on TV. A day I won't forget. A day that didn't just change the US, it had an impact on the whole world as it was.

Looking back it somehow was never the same again. The easy, happy mood of the 90s somehow never came back. At least I feel that way. Since then it's just been hit by hit by hit. Always a crisis, always a war. Always political and economical troubles.

My thoughts are with the people who lost their lives that day, the people who gave it all in the following weeks and months. The folks who died trying to save the victims. And the people who died in the aftermath.

9/11 is the main subject today with my students. It's been 25 years, they all weren't born yet and people start to forget. Important to keep history in peoples mind. Be it WW1, WW2, 9/11 and so on. History, there's so much we could and should learn from it. But somehow the people in charge mostly won't.

I had two relatives in the Pentagon that day that managed to make it out. One in the second tower that didn’t.

Completely and utterly changed my life. I was living and working in Paris at the time great job, great life. But as a white boy that had double majored in biochemistry and languages with an emphasis is Arabic, I felt I could have been of some use, within the span of 3.5 years i was in Iraq working for one of my father’s former Marines in a PMC doing interpreter and protection work for about 7 years. Set my whole life on another path.

It was and still is a sad day and there is a lot of ways that you can look at it. One way is a lesson that we still to this day just absolutely refuse to learn.

On days like today, I suggest people Hug their loved ones. Tell them you love them, because you never know what is going to happen and how fast and tragically they can be lost.

.The brevity of memory demonstrate by New York, Seattle, and others is cause for sorrow, and for a change in education. Honoring the acts of the heroic people who stepped up is important, but even that horrendous attack seems to have taught many Americans nothing. If we don't learn from things like this, "Death to America" will be an achievable goal. I pray that never happens.

The most surreal day of my long life. Thanks to all who posted here. My heart breaks for the fallen and the relatives and friends of the fallen that day and those who died later from breathing the polluted air. Was at a Marriott for a conference for our small company, the boss walks out of the conference room and returns and said a plane just hit an NYC office tower and walks out again and returns to say another plane hit the other office tower. We leave the conference room and saw all the carnage on big screen TV's in the lobby in a loop over and over again. Proud of all the good people in the USA and proud of all the the good people of the World that showed support and good will. Cheers Everyone.
