Music by Stevie Wonder and Hank Cosby. Lyrics by Smokey Robinson. When you take the time to really listen and analyze this song, it's both a wonder and a miracle (see what I did there?). Seriously, though, the music is upbeat, and the instruments used almost make it sound like a circus. But the lyrics tell a story of a jilted lover putting on a brave face while his heart is breaking, creating a perfect reflection of itself. And the eloquent wording is something rarely found in popular music, not to mention the unique rhymes that occur in the middle of thoughts without breaking up the flow of the music or the thoughts.
And hell, it's sung by Smokey Robinson. That right there makes it a song worth listening to over and over.
