Not the best day yesterday

car gallery is coming today. But yesterday wasn't the best of days for me. Two things happened.

I work at the same place now for the 27th year. Got a good friend there who works there for 21 years. A few years ago she got diagnosed with cancer. The same month her husband as well. He didn't make it, she pulled through and it looked good for a good while. But cancer, you know it, can always strike back. A few weeks ago it did - and hard. Got informed yesterday that it spread everywhere, organs start to fail. No way out, no way back this time. It seems it's a matter of weeks now...

Then the matter with my sister. After our mom died we thought it's all done now financially. My sister had an insurance. She thought it's all covered. Well, the insurance paid only a piece of the big bill. Took over a year the process. Now my sister is facing a big financial obstacle (she signed it back then with her name on it) - it's just shy of half a million bucks....half a million....money she definitely doesn't have. Money I definitely not have. I'm not sure where this will be heading. A monthly payback for the rest of her life, a process in court, some kind of agreement with less money paid. Only thing sure is that this will be quite hard for her and with that of course for me. And it will take a while to settle this I assume.

Well friends, there are always better days to come. There's always sunshine after a storm. This too shall pass...

So sorry for you, your co-worker, and your sister. I can't imagine the gut punch from all of this.

I don't even know what to say, except you're in my thoughts. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones as best you can. Life can certainly be unfair at times.

Most hospitals and doctors will write off a large portion of a full bill. I take it these won't or there's a long bureaucratic process involved? The medical bills are in her name? Either way, you an yours are in our prayers.

We thought first as well, and that's what they offered. Until they knew we have an insurance. Price went up after that right away. Just for us to find out that the insurance will cover a lot less than promised (or advertised). They always find a reason not to pay out the full amount somehow.

Funny enough now the bill with insurance left for us is higher than the offer would have been without insurance. Oh well.... but we're still on it and trying to find something to work out. My sister is looking for some legal advice of course.

A quick update, Misfits.

My friend and work colleague sadly passed away yesterday. Known her for more than 20 years. She will leave a big hole at work....and in our hearts. Now at least she reunites with her late husband who died years back already. The first cancer outbreak she fought and won. This time it came fast and hard. My thoughts are with her and her loved ones....
